We once again ask the question – Is it possible for an entrepreneur to really go on holiday?
The entrepreneurs on New Generation Mindset’s enterprise and supplier development programmes answer this interesting question.

Feluna Kalunga from Last Mile Technologies: An entrepreneur has the unique ability to identify opportunities in any circumstance. So a holiday is meant to rest the body but however the mind is still tuned to the environment to identify opportunities. There is however the need to balance work and personal life in order to run a sustainable business.
For 2017: The buzz word is diversification. At Last Mile we are excited about taking our company to the next level by exploring new business verticals such as providing Full Turn Key (FTK) fibre optic deployments and involvement in Network Quality Assurance projects. Last Mile will also be diversifying our customer mix, aiming to attract more corporate customers to take our company to the next level of revenue and profitability.
Challenges: Depressed business sentiment, that results in reduced capital expenditure. This means there will be a slowdown in rollout projects resulting in less opportunities available in the market space. Most of our customers are on cost optimization drives which will put pressure on revenue yield from business opportunities.
Entrepreneurs don’t go on holiday
Nonela Siwundla from Sokhanyisa: An entrepreneur does not go on holiday. She/he arranges meetings with potential clients for the following year, follow up on administration work and the one or two things she has been putting on hold the whole year. When everyone is busy shopping, she finds time to venture into getting it all done.

For 2017: My plans for next year – 2017 is to forge partnerships with established businesses and to launch empowerment programmes through seminars or workshops with other SMMEs, mainly construction companies and consultants.
Challenges: The main challenge for all entrepreneurs is available work opportunities for them to sustain their cash flow. 2017 won’t be different. Positioning, Compliance and Quality of work delivered is what one must Ace at all times.
